HEELP!

Having a vintage clothing crisis! I've been invited to Rock a Hula tomorrow night, and haven't a stitch to wear! I've been told folk are going 50s/60s.

Really want to go Mad Men Joan-esque but have nothing in my wardrobe for it other than a black pencil skirt.

Oh, to look like that everyday

Or, I was thinking of turned up jeans and a polo neck, or a peasant blouse with jeans (if I can find a blouse in a charity shop)

I do have a clingy "Stop Staring dress" but it's a 30s shape, and I can't think how I could alter it without wrecking it.

And then there's hair?! What to do with my bob?!

I really want to make the effort and not rock (a hula) up in my usual 30s/40s regalia and pretend I got the dress code wrong?!
Please help with any ideas?

Ok - breathe! I think the jeans idea is the quickest and most comfortable. Plus - i think it could look the most authentic.
As for the bob - I would possibly curl it and then put in some fake bangs? I am not too sure how long your fringe is - but if not long enough you could always brush some hair forward from the middle. Or even just twist the hair round a long bobby pin? Finish off with a bow-tied head scarf that complements the top you decide on?
Maybe?

Well if you have a black pencil skirt you could wear that and a sweater maybe? And you could always try doing Marilyn Monroe curls for your hair :)

If I were you I'll try some flowers in my hair - (I prefer curled hair but if it doesn't work - my hair hates stress as it seems.. - flowers alway get you in winning position.)
