Weighing up Art Deco

Since beginning to bake I have been using a rickety pair of old plastic scales (from my local Red Cross charity shop at £2). They served a purpose but were a bit temperamental, and let's face it... if one has scales, one simply must have stylish scales. So I looked and I found these...

Art deco green scales!
Bought from a lovely couple whose 1930s bungalow is floor to ceiling deco decor. I drooled with envy at their abode, it was simply stunning. One day... one day, my little kitchenette apartment will look as good as their bungalow... tomorrow the Deco DIY begins, in the form of sanding my bedroom floorboards and putting up shelves (OK, it's hardly painting my walls eau de nil... but it's a start!)

P.S
New post coming up "How to make Pear chocolate and almond pudding cake"
(with or without deco green scales)
watch this space!

They are gorgeous. I have some similar ones, but secretly, I don't ever use them and just use my quick £2 Asda ones instead! Ok, so I'm lazy, but they are a bit of a faff, and I'm happy that they just look pretty in the kitchen. Who says pretty things have to be practical?xxx

Beautiful scales!! I love the colour and I can only imagine how gorgeous the inside of the couple's home was.

Looking forward to your recipe. :)

oh, LOVE! I'm looking for similar around here to use to weigh my shop parcels before shipment. I can only imagine what that couple's home looks like (wish you could have sneaked pics ;). Can't wait to see more of your own deco DIY! I am up to my ears in bathroom reno with similar deco dreams....

I used the scales on the cake of which the recipe is now posted... they are a wee bit of a faff (Jenny, I fear they are pretty and highly impractical!) But it felt good to use them!
Sarah and The Baroness... I'm currently watching some pottery listed on Ebay from the same people who sold me the scales, so I may well return, if I do I'll ask if I can take pictures... or is that a bit wierd?
Thanks for checking out my blog Sarsaparilla, glad people are reading and enjoying it :D
